What is NearUS, exactly?

NearUS is a location-based social app that shows you real events happening near you, right now — parties, pickup sports, live music, pop-ups, and more — on a live map instead of a scrolling feed.

Anyone can browse what's nearby, and anyone can host their own event in under a minute.

Is NearUS free to use?

Yes. Browsing the map, discovering events, and RSVPing is completely free. Hosts can optionally pay to "boost" an event for more visibility, and some events may charge a ticket price set by the host — NearUS takes a small percentage of ticket sales to keep the platform running.

What cities is NearUS available in?

NearUS is currently live at Clemson University. We're intentionally starting in one place so the map is genuinely full of real events before expanding — more campuses and cities are coming.

How is this different from Instagram, Snap Map, or other event apps?

Most social apps show you content ranked by an algorithm, from people who may not be near you, often after the moment has passed. NearUS is built around one job: showing you what's actually happening close by, right now, sorted by distance and time — not engagement.

Is my location visible to everyone?

No. Your friend location on the map is only visible to people you've added as friends — never to strangers or the general public. Events you create can be set to Public or Private depending on who you want to see them.

How do I host an event?

Open NearUS, tap Create Event, and fill in the details — title, location, time, and whether it's Public or Private. It goes live on the map immediately for people nearby to find.

When is the iOS / Android app launching?

NearUS works today in any mobile browser at near-us-tau.vercel.app. Native apps for Android and iOS are in progress — use the "Get notified" link on the homepage and we'll email you the moment they're available.

How do I report an event or a user?

Every event and profile has a report option built in. Reports come straight to our team for review — you can also email us directly using the form below if something needs urgent attention.
